SchoolMessenger is an automated notification system which enables a school district to contact parents/guardians in a timely manner, most notably for Emergency Early Dismissals, School Delays, or School Cancellations. SchoolMessenger can easily send a voice, email, and/or text message to thousands of registered phone numbers in a matter of minutes. Recent upgrades to the system now allow you to customize how you receive early morning weather-related phone calls from Region 15 in one central location. SchoolMessenger can be accessed through an app or website.

1. You can access SchoolMessenger at https://go.schoolmessenger.com. If you would prefer to use a mobile app, the app is available on the Android Google Play and Apple iOS Stores under the name “SchoolMessenger’. There is no charge for the app.
2. Either from the App or Website, click “sign up” to begin. When creating your account, please use the email address that we currently have on file for your child/children in Region 15’s student database. You will be asked to create your own password for your account.
3. After you create your account, you will now be able to set your preferences for early morning weather-related phone calls. On both the app and website, you will be asked, "Is it OK to call you at this number" - you may see more than one number. Select which numbers you would like to have available for SchoolMessenger phone calls.
4. Next, you will be able to select your preferences for early morning weather-related phone calls. If you are using the website, click on the down arrow in the upper right hand corner to access the “preferences” page. If you are using the app click on the icon on the upper left hand corner to access the “preferences” page. Whether you are using the website or the app, follow the directions below to “opt in” for early morning weather-related phone calls.
1. Scroll down to “My Message Preferences” and select “Weather Related _Non Emergency”.
2. Select the phone numbers on which you wish to receive early morning weather-related phone calls.
On the website you will need to “save” your selections; the app will automatically save your selections. That's it! Your preferences have been made!

How do I access SchoolMessenger? Do I need to download an app or access it through a website? You can access SchoolMessenger through an app or a website. For those who prefer to use a website, or don't have easy access to a smartphone, you can access the SchoolMessenger Website at https://go.schoolmessenger.com. Are the website features the same as the mobile app? Yes, the website and mobile app features are the same. An account for the website is recognized on the mobile apps, and vice versa.
How do I sign up to use SchoolMessenger? You may download the SchoolMessenger app and/or access the SchoolMessenger website at anytime to "sign in" and create your account. Please Note: You must “sign up” using the email address that we currently have on file for your child/children in Region 15’s student database. You will be asked to create your own password for your account.
How do I begin receiving text messages from Region 15? After you provide us with your cell phone number and after we enter it into our database, you will automatically receive an "Opt-in" text message the following day at 10:00am You may "Opt-in" by replying Y or Yes to the message received. The text message will come from 675-87. The text will read: Regional School District 15 Messages, Reply Y to confirm, Help for info. Can I elect to not receive SchoolMessenger texts? If you do not wish to receive SchoolMessenger texts from Region 15, reply STOP to the text message you receive from 675-87.
I provided my cell phone number to the school and it should now be in the school's database. What if I do not receive the automatic "Opt in" text?

What if I add or change a cell phone number to my child's school record? How do I "opt-in" the new cell phone number? Please contact your child's school and have your cell phone number updated in the PowerSchool system. Once the database has been updated, your new cell phone number will automatically receive an "Opt-in" text message the following day at 10:00am You may "Opt-in" by replying Y or Yes to the message.
What if I sign up and log in and don't see my child/children listed? You may have more than one email address registered in the district. Please contact your school(s) to update your email address.
What if I have registered, signed in and want to select my communication preferences and I don't see the correct phone numbers? Please call the school to update your contact information.
What if I am already "Opted-In" to receive the early-morning weather related phone calls from the SchoolMessenger Contact Manager, do I have to "Opt-In" again? Yes. SchoolMessenger will discontinue the "Contact Manager" system at the close of the 17-18 school year and will replace it with the new app system and website. Unfortunately, none of the current settings from the "Contact Manager" system will be migrated over to the new app system. Parents who wish to continue receiving early morning weather related phone calls past the close of the 17-18 school year must "opt-in" via the new app system. It is OK for a parent to be "opted in" to both systems at the same time.
Are there fees associated with SchoolMessenger? There is no charge to you to use the SchoolMessenger app / website, however wireless providers may charge for individual text messages, depending on the plan associated with the wireless device. Please consult your carrier if you are uncertain.
Will I still get calls and emails if I don’t go online and change my contact information? Yes, you will still be contacted using the contact information you provided to your child’s school on the Annual Registration Update Form. You will still automatically receive phone and email announcements for other call types such as Emergency or General Announcements.
Is SchoolMessenger a secure site? Yes. SchoolMessenger is a well known and reliable company in the education industry. All session information including uploads of sensitive information are done using 256-bit SSL encryption certified by VeriSign. SchoolMessenger uses two redundant firewalls to ensure protection against both internal and external attacks. In addition, a third-party auditing firm performs extensive quarterly security reviews.
What contact information was uploaded into SchoolMessenger? Contact information is uploaded from our student information system. Although day/work phone numbers are uploaded, the system cannot call extensions. If you have a direct line work number that you would like to be contacted on, please be sure to include that number on the Annual Registration Update Form or call your child's school directly to inform the school staff of any updates to your contact information.
Who do I notify when I change, add or disconnect a phone number or email address? If your contact information changes during the school year, please notify the main office of your child's school. Our student information system automatically updates the SchoolMessenger system on a nightly basis with any new parent contact information.
What should I do if I encounter problems setting up my Contact Manager Account? You may wish to log out and try again. If you still cannot successfully complete your contact preference, please send an email to email@example.com explaining your problem in detail. Please include contact information and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
Can I change my preference list at a later date if I want to? Yes, if you’d like to try it first and see how it works you can always go online at a later date and change your contact preference.
What number will appear on my caller ID? Your caller ID will display the district main phone number (203-758-8259) or your child's school main number. Caller ID will not display a name associated with the number.
Will I receive multiple phone calls if I have more than one child in school(s)? SchoolMessenger eliminates the duplication of calls to the same phone number. You will only receive one call per phone number listed. So if you have three children enrolled in Region 15 schools, you will only receive one call.
