Regina Lemerich Botsford, Superintendent of Region 15 Schools, recently named six students as the recipients of the Litchfield County Superintendents Association / Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (LCSA/CAPSS) award. Students were selected for their demonstration of outstanding leadership, citizenship, academic performance, participation in community service and extra curricular activities, and they were recognized at the March 12, 2018 Board of Education meeting.

Memorial Middle School (MMS):
Lindsey Matthews is an 8th grade student at Memorial Middle School and is described as a diligent student and a quiet leader who leads by example. She is involved at MMS as a newspaper editor, student government mentor, and science lab technician. Lindsey’s community involvement is extensive and demonstrates her commitment to others, as a volunteer at Relay for Life, with her religious youth group and through Girl Scouts.
Ella McCasland is an 8th grade student at Memorial Middle School and is described as a well-rounded student who is organized and consistently demonstrates excellence in all of her courses. She demonstrates kindness and compassion and serves as a role model for her peers. She is an officer in student government, is actively involved in the Diversity Club, and volunteers as a peer tutor.
Rochambeau Middle School (RMS):
Eric Holtz is an 8th grade student at Rochambeau Middle School who is described as polite and respectful, and one who volunteers to help others within and outside of school. He displays positive character in action as the recipient of the RMS Spotlight Student recognition for demonstrating determination to succeed. He is an active member of the Tri-M Honor Society, including band and jazz band, and a member of the RMS cross-country team.
Anjali Subramanian is an 8th grade student at Rochambeau Middle School where she demonstrates academic excellence in her courses and as a participant in Math Counts and You be the Chemist. Within the school community Anjali has served in many leadership roles as an active member in Student Council, Sandwich Club, and Peer Tutoring. She is a member of the Tri-M Honor Society, has participated in Orchestra, Chorus, and Chamber Orchestra and has been recognized for positive character as an RMS Spotlight Student for demonstrating a positive attitude.
Pomperaug High School:
Robert Holmes, a senior at Pomperaug High School, is an accomplished student and current member of the National Honor Society and freshman orientation Link Crew. He is a captain of the boys swim team and member of the high school track team. He continues his leadership in the community, participating in the USMC Leadership and Character Development Academy, is a peer minister, an Eagle Scout and Senior Patrol Leader of local Boy Scout Troop 444. He has recently been awarded a four-year Marine Corps NROTC scholarship.
Isabella Watson, is a junior at Pomperaug High School, who excels academically with a rigorous course schedule and demonstrates passion and commitment to the school’s theatre program. She has been a member of the Pomperaug Theatre Company since her freshman year and is currently the female lead in the upcoming spring production. She is a member of Chamber Orchestra, Tri-M and National Honor Societies. She is an active Girl Scout and Venture Scout, recently completing her Gold award, the highest Girl Scout achievement.
