***Please note that the 21st Century Learning Night has been postponed (from scheduled date of 3/22) and will be rescheduled. Please check back for updated information***
Information about the evening is below:
All Region 15 parents/guardians and members of the community are invited to be active participants at the 21st Century Learner Expectations evening. Activities related to 21st century skills in Grades Kindergarten through 12 will be set-up in the All Purpose Room, Cafeteria, and Media Center at Pomperaug High School. Students are welcome to attend.
The purpose of the evening is to share examples of 21st century skills and to demonstrate how those skills are integrated in the Region 15 curriculum. Region 15 administrators, teachers, and/or students will demonstrate and lead activities.
Region 15’s 21st century skills are collaboration, critical thinking, communication, innovation/creativity, character, and global citizenship.
“21st century learner expectations are designed to prepare students to meet the opportunities and challenges of today and the future. We are looking forward to sharing our students’ work and to sharing how the Region has purposefully integrated these skills in to our classrooms,” said Dr. Carrie Chiappetta, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
The Region 15 Board of Education adopted the following long-term district goal statement in September, 2015: “Students will demonstrate the Region 15 learner expectations of collaboration, critical thinking, communication, innovation, global citizenship and character.” These 21st century skills build on Regional School District 15’s long-standing commitment to high-quality education, and are designed to prepare students for the increasingly technological world in which they live and into which they will graduate.
