Restorative practices are transformational tools that have been increasingly applied at schools in Region 15 to address conflict, improve school climate, and build a positive school culture through community building and addressing student behavior. Restorative practices help teachers, students, and parents to build, maintain, and restore relationships for learning and for life.

“This is an excellent opportunity for families in our community to learn how restorative practices foster and build healthy relationships and promote positive discipline in schools.  Restorative practices are not a program or curriculum, but rather a mindset that benefits student learning and growth in their school and home communities,” said Dr. Carrie Chiappetta, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in Region 15.

Dr. Freiberg is a life long educator focusing on the wide arena of Bullying, Improving School Climate, Restorative Practices and Character Education.  She has worked as a classroom teacher and as a teacher educator, and has held faculty appointments at a number of universities, including Central Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, the University of Hartford and the University of Connecticut.  She currently serves as Co-Chair of the National School Climate Council and is on the Connecticut statewide task force of Sportsmanship.  She has served on the statewide task force on bullying, and serves as an educational consultant in a variety of settings in Connecticut and nationally.
