Region 15 Superintendent Regina Lemerich Botsford announced the appointment of Richard C. Gusenburg as Interim Assistant Superintendent. Gusenburg will serve on a part-time basis until the position is posted and filled later in the school year. Kelly M. Lyman, current Assistant Superintendent, will be leaving Region 15 at the end of July to become the Superintendent of the Mansfield Public Schools.
Gusenburg has spent over 30 years of his career in Region 15 returning as Interim Principal of Long Meadow Elementary School. He had previously served Region 15 as Interim Assistant Superintendent and Principal and Interim Principal of Long Meadow Elementary School. He has also served LEAD Connecticut and Connecticut Association of Schools as an Executive Coach.
Matthew Salvestrini, Principal of Gainfield Elementary School, has accepted a position as Director of Digital Learning for the New Canaan Public Schools. Salvestrini has been the Gainfield Elementary School Principal for the past six years. He previously worked as a teacher and an Assistant Principal in Brookfield, Darien, and Fairfield. An Interim Principal will be appointed in the coming weeks.
Botsford also announces the appointment of Nicole A. Vibert as Academic Chairperson for the Humanities at Pomperaug High School. The vacancy was created by the departure of David Luhman, who accepted a position with the Southern Westchester Board of Cooperative Education Services in New York.
Vibert has been a high School Social Studies teacher in the West Hartford Public Schools for the past four years. Previously, she had been a middle school Social Studies teacher in the Windsor Public Schools. She holds a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, and a Masters of Education from the University of St. Joseph.
